Police officials recovered a two-page suicide note on the spot, one written by Bharat and the other, by his wife Sushma. Although Bharat and his wife have written that they had not pressurised into taking the extreme step, the police are trying ascertain the reason.
Police inspector (crime) S D Phadtare told TOI, "Bharat used to run a small business of checking the pollution level of vehicles on the highway. He had four Maruti vans for this business and there are no pointers to suggest that financial constraints could have driven him to suicide."
He adds, "In the suicide note, Bharat has mentioned that 'neither I am wrong now, nor was I ever wrong earlier'. We are trying to make sense as why he wrote this, as he has not blamed anyone clearly."
According to his family members, he looked disturbed since eight months. Last Diwali, he told his brother that he did not wish to live, but despite probing, did not reveal the reason. Bharat visited Shirdi on Monday evening, probably to ask for pardon for the extreme step he was about to take.

In his suicide note, he has asked his brothers to continue to live happily in the joint family setup, his parents for forgiveness and his friends to give up drinking and take care of themselves. At the end of the note, Bharat has mentioned that he had kept a gold bracelet as mortgage with a local bank for the Scorpio he had bought some time ago. He has asked his brothers to return the car and recover it.
Bharat's wife, on her part, has requested her parents not to blame her in-laws for her death.
Investigators have found a bottle at the terrace. They believe that Bharat had either given poison or some kind of sedative to the kids before hanging them. The bottle has been sent for chemical analysis to determine its contents.
